Caleb Swanigan was invited to participate in the NBA Combine that is about to start.
This weekend he announced he has decided to not go through the workouts in Chicago for the combine. This isn’t really out of the norm. Athletes do it for the NFL Combine as well. For Biggie though, it is a bit strange as he is a fringe first round pick, presumably, a great combine would benefit him in the draft. But, a poor combine would hurt him drastically too.
Biggie will still do the measurables in the combine, doing all of the drills. The part he will not partake in is the live scrimmage. In my opinion, this is a smart move, as if he gets in space with someone like Mo Wagner again, it will show his deficiencies first hand at the combine. I don’t blame him for wanting to sit out the scrimmage portion, due to how it could negatively effect his stock, if he didn’t perform well.
Caleb can still do private workouts for teams in the NBA, leading up to that May 24th date where he has to decide if he is going to come back or stay in the NBA draft. He said that he believe his play on the court was enough for a team to decide to draft him or not.
Whatever he decides to do, he will be great at it!
