Last season was kind to Purdue in the BMO Harris Brradley Center. They beat Vermont and Iowa State there in the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament to advance to the Sweet 16. Purdue will be headed back there during the 2017-18 season as they will play at Marquette in the Gavitt Tipoff Games:

Matchups are set for the 2017 Gavitt Games, multiple sources told FanRag Sports on Saturday. Check out the slate of games below.

  • Nov. 13th: Minnesota at Providence
  • Nov. 14th: Purdue at Marquette
  • Nov. 15th: Butler at Maryland, Creighton at Northwestern, Indiana at Seton Hall
  • Nov. 16th: Xavier at Wisconsin, Nebraska at St. John’s
  • Nov. 17th: DePaul at Illinois

Last year’s game against Villanova was also part of the Gavitt Games, so Purdue is 0-1 all-time in the event. Purdue is 8-0 all-time against the Golden Eagles, but we have not played them since March 15, 1969, but that was a special game. Purdue beat the Golden Eagles 75-73 on this shot from Rick Mount to go to its first Final Four:

This should be a fun. The Golden Eagles were 19-13 this past year and made hte NCAA Tournament, but lost in the first round to South Carolina. It is a chance for a quality non-conference road win. This is an improving team that made the tournament last year for hte first time since 2013, so it will be a good game.
