It only took 71 years, but finally, Purdue has caught the University of Chicago with 73 Big Ten titles across all sports. Today women's track and field team won the Big Ten for the third time, and first since 1999. It is the second Big Ten team title of the school year, joining men's basketball from March. This was after Purdue, as a school, went three straight years without any titles.
Devynne Charlton won three individual events. Symone Black won the 100 meters. The team won the 4x100 meters as well.
Purdue scored 21 points in the 100 and 20 points in the 200 by placing four athletes in the top 7 of each. Savannah Carson was also the Big Ten champ in the long jump.
On the men's side Anaquan Peterson won the Triple Jump, but the men's team finished in 10th place.
I will have more tonight when I get home since I am updating from my phone, but congrats, ladies!
