Yep, we’re still a golf school.
After missing out on the NCAA championships last season for only the second time this century Purdue women’s golf is headed back tot he place where it had so much success. Purdue’s most recent National Championship in any sport occurred there in 2010, with 2011 coming extremely close with a runner-up finish. in 2013 Purdue finished third nationally.
After this week’s Columbus Regional Purdue finished as one of the top six teams, which was good enough to advance to the championships held next week in Sugar Grove, Illinois. Purdue came into today’s third round in the sixth and final transfer spot, but it managed to move up one spot for a fifth place finish.
Purdue was +40 for the weekend and solidly in the top 6. They finished ahead of Michigan in 6th place, but behind Ohio State, Florida State, South Carolina, and Florida.
Individually Marta Martin Garcia was leading on Monday and finished +1 overall, good for a tie for third place.
