Lutz is getting a short, two year deal. Obviously, if he doesn’t become a head coach and does a great job, we would renew his contract after his two years were up.
His base salary is $250,000 dollars. I feel as if that is fair for a recruiting coordinator and being one of the top assistants on the staff. I tried to find what his previous earnings were at Creighton, but failed.
I would assume that this is a pay raise, as he is in the same position at a different school. Basically, it is a lateral move for Coach Lutz, other than Purdue being more well known than Creighton, which will lead to a head coaching job for him much quicker.
We are already seeing his impact, as Coach Lutz has put out offers to a few new players we were not recruiting beforehand in 2018 or 2019. I am pretty excited to have him on staff and I do think he will help with recruiting tremendously.
