2017 Purdue Basketball Recruiting: Brandon McCoy a Late Addition?

Purdue might have a small chance at replacing one McDonald’s All-American big man with another.

We are still awaiting word on if Caleb Swanigan will declare for the NBA Draft. It certainly seems likely and I would still bet he has played his last game for Purdue. Purdue has been recruiting his scholarship for the 2017-18 season, with Malik Ondigo as the primary target for it. There might be another, however:

To be honest, this is the first I have even heard of who Brandon McCoy is, let alone that he was considering Purdue. The report from from an MLive reporter that regularly covers Michigan and Michigan State. The Spartans have three spots still open according to Verbal Commits, but none of the major services like Rivals or ESPN have Purdue even interested, let alone offering.

Of course, if he is legitimately considering Purdue we will take him. He is a 6’11”, 244 pounds center that is a 5-star McDonald’s All-American. ESPN has him as the No. 6 recruit nationally int he 2017 class and Rivals has him at No. 15. If he says he is interested, you offer. Period.

Here is the scholarship grid. As a reminder, if Swanigan stays we do not have room for anyone else unless there is another departure.
