On a day where you generally only get the players who have verbaled to your school in the past, Coach Brohm and his staff have blessed us with two surprises.
It’s official, Robert McWilliams is a Boilermaker! #BoilerUp #LetsPlayFootball #NSD17 @robertmcwilliy1 pic.twitter.com/dxWMo4szb2

TMill got the first one. This commit, Robert McWilliams, was a pretty unknown commodity for us in Boiler Nation. He seems like a prime redshirt candidate in year 1. He is extremely thin, at 6’4” they list him as a defensive end or outside linebacker.
To play DE in the B1G he would need to buff up about 40 pounds. If the plan is to play him at OLB, then 20 pounds won’t be nearly as bad. Rivals has him listed as a 2 star prospect, so to me he looks like a developmental prospect for sure.
According to his HUDL page, he runs a 4.54 (!) forty, that is so fat for an outside linebacker. I am not sure what type of defense Coach Brohm is bringing here, but McWilliams ha extremely long arms and if he beefs up he could be a great edge rusher.
Welcome to Purdue!
