It appears as if Markese Stepp and Purdue are headed in different directions. Stepp has cooled off the Boilermakers after recent reports this week said he was set to have an official visit next weekend.
Stepp, a 4* from powerhouse Cathedral in Indianapolis, decommitted from Notre Dame last week, after being a long standing verbal.

Coach Brohm is wanting a running back to sign at the early signing period, on December 20th. I completely understand, Coach Brohm is trying to rebuild a roster and it starts with this class. He needs to build depth with class and find some stars within it as well.
Coach Brohm cannot wait for Stepp to decide by February, he needs a sure thing, who is to say that he wouldn’t decommit by February again.
Here are some targets, according to 247 sports:
Andrew Cunningham - Tampa, Florida
Ryan Montgomery - Franklin, Ohio
Jeremy Banks - Cordova, Tennessee
