T-Mill doesn’t love analytics.
As a football coach, I am fond of them.
Ja’Whaun Bentley was not named to to the 1st or 2nd B1G teams that were voted on by coaches last week. Seems ridiculous, right? If you watched our team, you realized how important he was to us, week in and week out. In fact, when he was hurt for the IU game, I had a mini freak out, because he is such a huge loss.
The four year starter tallied 89 tackles, an interception and a touchdown in his senior campaign. This was his first season since his freshman year where he has been healthy for the majority of the season. Missing 7 games as a sophomore and and 3 as a junior.
Here is how he graded out:

You can see that he graded out as an A, at 90.7. Good for tying with Nick Bosa for the 4th best grade on the defense. Bentley is an absolute stud. At 6’3”, 255 pounds, he can cover the field from sideline to sideline and make an impact. He is young for being a senior as well, with being only 21 years old.
Many NFL teams will look at him this upcoming draft. I have no idea where he will be drafted, but he is too good not to be drafted. I am looking forward to having him for one more game in the Foster Farms Bowl.
Congratulations Ja’Whaun and Boiler Up!
