Purdue’s Christmas gift is a two spot jump in the rankings.

It is Christmas day, but it is also Monday afternoon, so that means we have some new rankings. Instead of moving up on merit (which we should be doing) we moved up two spots, mostly because of who lost in front of us. We’re now 14th in the AP Poll, our highest spot this year:

  1. Villanova (43) 1,600
  2. Michigan State (16) 1,560
  3. Arizona State (6) 1,481
  4. Duke 1,435
  5. Texas A&M 1,309
  6. Xavier 1,242
  7. West Virginia 1,226
  8. Wichita State 992
  9. Virginia 969
  10. TCU 923
  11. Kansas 920
  12. Oklahoma 901
  13. North Carolina 891
  14. Purdue 839
  15. Miami (FL) 827
  16. Kentucky 735
  17. Arizona 511
  18. Baylor 437
  19. Tennessee 405
  20. Gonzaga 382
  21. Cincinnati 377
  22. Texas Tech 351
  23. Seton Hall 227
  24. Florida State 169
  25. Creighton 143

The coaches poll has not been released yet, and I don’t know if there will be one this week. I was surprised that there was an AP Poll this week because of Christmas.
