Last week was a bloodbath for many teams around college basketball. The following ranked teams lost last week:
No. 1 Duke (at Boston College)
No. 2 Kansas (Washington and Arizona State)
No. 5 Florida (Florida State and Loyola-IL)
No. 7 Texas A&M (Arizona)
No. 9 Notre Dame (Ball State)
No. 12 Gonzaga (Villanova)
No. 14 Minnesota (at Nebraska and at Arkansas)
No. 15 Virginia (at West Virginia)
No. 17 Cincinnati (Florida)
No. 22 Nevada (at Texas Tech, TCU)
No. 25 USC (Oklahoma)
For some like Texas A&M, Florida, Minnesota, and USC it showed they were wildly overrated. Others just had inexplicable dicktrips like Notre Dame and (again) Florida. Most importantly, the name missing from that list was No. 21 Purdue, who took care of business by 55 total points. That means the chaos moves us up.
Here are this week’s rankings with first place votes and total points:
- Villanova (41) 1,598
- Michigan State (19) 1,561
- Wichita State 1,402
- Duke 1,362
- Arizona State 1,316
- Miami (FL) 1,272
- North Carolina 1,237
- Kentucky 1,227
- Texas A&M 1,072
- Xavier 1,044
- West Virginia 972
- Gonzaga 805
- Kansas 760
- TCU 718
- Seton Hall 704
- Virignia 690
- Purdue 568
- Notre Dame 564
- Florida State 452
- Tennessee 342
- Baylor 281
- Florida 261
- Arizona 252
- Texas Tech 191
- Cincinnati 145
Arizona moving into the top 25 officially gives us a top 25 win again. Florida dropped from no. 5 to 22 and Notre Dame dropped from 9 to 18.
In the Coaches Poll Purdue managed to only move up 4 spots to No. 17:
