The first letter is in, and Purdue has a new power forward in the same vein as Caleb Swanigan:

Obviously the expectation that Williams is the next Swanigan is a steep one. Swanigan was a top 10 national recruit that went to the NBA in two seasons. Williams is rated 110th nationally by Rivals and is a 4-star commit according to ESPN. Those are solid rankings, but not Biggie.

Still< Williams has drawn some comparisons to Biggie and maybe he can be a poor man’s Swanigan. He has a big body for 6’8” and he can definitely both rebound and grind in the low post. You can see from his video here that he has some nice touch on his passes too:

Williams will come in with Matt Haarms, Eden Ewing, and Jacquil Taylor ahead of him for minutes, but Ewing will be in his final season and Taylor will have maybe two years left. He even has looked up to Swanigan and his story too. Williams left Chicago and the violent streets looking for an opportunity, and Purdue will benefit.

Is he Biggie-lite? We’ll see.
