We have a doubleheader today. We get Purdue Football at 3:30 and Purdue basketball at 7. Purdue has a chance today in Iowa city for many reasons. First, I am not there. We know what happens when I go to see Purdue in a road venue for the first time and the result is usually not good. We learned that hard lesson at Rutgers, so it will be at least two years before I head to Iowa City.
Second, Iowa is very much an up and down team. They struggled with Northwestern and Minnesota. They managed only 66 yards and no offensive points at Wisconsin. Purdue has a strong enough defense to contend here, at least for a moment.
Third, we’re simply due for a better game, be it through catching the ball, some turnover luck, or whatever.
Finally, it is a rivalry game, so throw out those record books against Our Most Hated Rivals.
