Purdue’s big man suffers yet another setback.

Not again.

Jacquil Taylor, Purdue’s promising reserve power forward/center, has unfortunately sustained another injury. Per Nathan Baird of the Lafayette Journal & Courier he has a small bone crack in his left foot/ankle:

This seems relatively minor, as last year it was a preseason ankle injury that required surgery and cost him the entire 2016-17 season. It was unfortunately his 4th season in the last 5 years, high school or college, that has been interrupted due to injury.

When he has been healthy, however, he has shown a lot of promise. As a redshirt freshman in 2015-16 he played sparringly, but had a huge 12 point, 10 rebound game at Rutgers. He was also a strong rebounder over the summer as Purdue was at the World University Games and he played a lot of reserve minutes for Isaac Haas. he is expected to be a key reserve in the frontcourt this season.

If he can’t return that makes the development of Matt Haarms and Eden Ewing all the more critical. Here is hoping this is minor and he can finally get a full healthy season.
