Purdue only has two people eligible for Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors. Since the conference continues to ignore the sick handles of walk-on Tommy Luce we’ll have to settle for them honoring Carsen Edwards. After two solid games against Illinois and Penn State Edwards co named Co-Freshman of the Week with Justin Jackson from Maryland:

Edwards had 14 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists against Illinois on Tuesday, including a stretch where he scored 10 straight as the Boilers routed the Illini. On Saturday against Penn State he had a solid 13-2-2 line. Purdue eventually won both games by at least 25 points.
This is the first Freshman of the Week honor for Edwards and he is the first Purdue player to win Freshman of the Week since Caleb Swanigan last season. Hopefully, it is the first of many awards for Carsen.
Meanwhile, Tommy Luce will have to wait.
