Our beloved Anthrop is headed to Canada. I know what your first thought is, he is running away to Canada for the next four years to avoid the Trump Presidency, in my Donald Trump voice “Wrrooongggg”.
Danny has signed a contract with the Montreal Allouettes in the Canadian Football League for the upcoming season. In the past, Boilermakers have done well in the CFL. Recently, Robert Marve was with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Kory Sheets was with Saskatchewan Roughriders, where he won the Grey Cup as well as earning the Grey Cup MVP honors.
Danny was a joy to have has a Boilermaker on and off the field. On the field, he was one of our leading receivers for three years straight, unfortunately his career had to be with a head coach that didn’t know his mouth from his.. well you know. Just imagine if Danny was going into his Junior year now with Brohm, the sky would be the limit.
He was also involved in the community around Purdue, being a local kid it was almost a must for him. Working in youth camps over the summer and volunteering his time to better the community.
Last year, after graduation, Danny was invited to be on the Colts training camp roster and to be involved in the off-season program. I still strongly believe that he would have been more effective on the field that Chester Rogers, who had two left hands for the Colts this season. I would even bet a lump sum of money that he would have helped out more than Phillip “somehow a 1st round pick” Dorsett, who still hasn’t lived up to his draft pick.
Danny and I have known each other for quite some time, as we both grew up in the Lafayette area and competed in some 7 on 7 camps against one another. We have stayed in touch throughout college as well and even after, from a friend, I wish you the best of luck in Montreal, enjoy the food, the football and the free health care. Here is to hoping that your dream comes true and a spot on a NFL roster is in your near future. Boiler Up!
