The Darrell Hazell Hot Seat Watch Week 4

Mike Bobinski has a decision to make on November 27th. We’re just trying to help.

NCAA Football: Cincinnati at Purdue Sandra Dukes-USA TODAY Sports

As an aside, I like how I have over three years of images to choose from thanks to USA Today and Getty images when it comes to Darrell Hazell, but they all look the same. The picture used in this article is from the Cincinnati game, but you can barely tell which one. There is almost always that same arms crossed starring out at the field image.

And therein lies the problem.

Nothing ever changes with Hazell, least of all the actual results on the field. We hear every week about being “this close” and “We’ll review the tape, identify what’s wrong, and fix it,” but nothing is ever fixed.

Thus we now have the Darrell Hazell Hot Seat Watch. I don’t know if this will be a regular feature or if it comes out of me being bored at work and will be forgotten, but it is here. I don’t think Purdue fans could be more fed up with Hazell, but we’ll see as the season goes on.

As you can see, we have several layers. I was going to make the top level “Paterno Fired”, but won’t because, well, let’s just not touch that. We’re currently at level 13 because Hazell himself has said the sky is not falling. that’s because it has already fallen in a rain of ill-gotten cash upon him.
