Markell Jones, the player Purdue can least afford to lose, is still on the mend according to what Darrell Hazell said in today’s Big Ten teleconference:
"I talked to him last night," said Hazell, who is on the road recruiting. "He's doing better; a little bit sore. Obviously we'll take this week and be cautious with him."
if Jones has to miss any extended time it looks like there will be a running back by committee. Jones leads Purdue with 192 yards and two touchdowns through two games.
in terms of reserves, Brian Lankford-Johnson is second in rushing yardage with 58, but 48 came on one play against Eastern Kentucky. Richie Worship and Tario Fuller each have five carries on the season, with Worship scoring a touchdown against Cincinnati after Jones was injured. Fuller also have five receptions out of the backfield for 51 yards. Jones has also been active there with seven receptions.
