In 2010 Paula Reto helped Purdue to its most recent team national Championship. She was one of the five golfers on the course when Purdue edged USC by one stroke to become the first “northern” school to win a National Championship.
Having conquered the Untied States, Reto is now moving on to beat the whole world. The South African was chosen to represent her country in Rio as golf returned to the Olympics for the first time in over a century. through three rounds Reto has a shot for more.
Reto currently sits in a tie for 9th place at 209 with tomorrow’s final round still to go. She shot a three over par 74 on Wednesday, but was solid the last two days with a 67 and a 68 to move into contention for a medal.
Gerina Pillerof hte U..s currently sits in silver position with a 204 with Lydia Ko of Australia. Inbee Park of South Korea is the current leader at 11 under par. Reto is 4 under for the tournament.
It will take some work, but Reto has at least a shot of earning a medal tomorrow.
