If there is a bit of an awkward situation on the roster, it is with today’s player.
Garrett Hudson – Jr.
Tallahassee, FL (North Florida ChristianHS)
6’3”, 245 pounds
Linebacker
2016 Projection: Contributor at Linebacker
Hudson is a player that has worked hard and earned quite a bit of playing time in his career. He has played in 16 of 24 games over the past two seasons with three starts as a solid reserve middle linebacker. Much of his playing time came last season after Ja’Whaun Bentley went down with his knee injury. In total, he has 32 tackles, 4 for loss, and he recovered a fumble against Nebraska last season he nearly took back for a touchdown.
Where the awkwardness comes in is that he is the son of deposed defensive coordinator Greg Hudson. It has to be hard to play on after your dad got fired for doing his job relatively poorly, but Garrett is continuing forward. This coming season he should be a valuable reserve as a middle linebacker with experience.
