Coming out of a redshirt year is often an important time for a player. If a true freshman at their position passes them it can mean a long time on the bench. Hopefully that is not the case for today’s player.

Fred Brown – Fr. (RS)

Boutte, LA (Hahnville HS)

6’1”, 272 pounds

Defensive Tackle

2016 Projection: Reserve at Defensive Tackle

Brown had some big numbers for a small Louisiana high school and that is what got him an offer from Purdue. His senior season he had 83 tackles and 10 sacks to go with four blocked field goals and four forced fumbles as he caused a ton of havoc on the field. His team finished 10-4 with a loss in the Class 5A state quarterfinals, however.

Brown is one of several players trying to make headway at defensive tackle. He is a bit behind the three big true freshmen coming in, but he does have the experience of his redshirt season.
