Amanda Elmore Goes for Purdue Gold in Rio

Purdue can earn its first gold of the Rio Olympics on Saturday.

We all know about David Boudia and Steele Johnson, but another boilermaker could bring home gold Saturday morning from Rio. Amanda Elmore is competing as a member of the U.S. Coxed Eight rowing team in Rio, and the American have qualified for the final which will be aired live on NBCOlympics.com at 10:06am ET. it also looks like NBC may air it live as well on their coverage on the main network.

Elmore was born and raised in West Lafayette and graduated from Purdue in 2013 with a degree in Biology. She also competed for Michigan while she was earning a graduate degree.

The Americans are favored to win gold, as well. They will be competing against The Netherlands, Romania, Great Britain, Canada, and New Zealand in the final. The U.S. had the fastest time int he heats, more than 3 seconds faster than the Brits.
