Purdue football has been on a bit of a recruiting kick of late and it continued this morning when LePerion Perry, a 5'8" 165 athlete from La Grange, Georgia committed.
Perry is rated as a 2-star prospect by Rivals and a 3-star by 24/7. As the tiebreaker ESPN has him as unrated at the moment. He currently has offers from Cincinnati, East Carolina, Florida International, and Tulane.
Right now his high school lines him up as a quarterback, likely to get the ball in the hands of its most talented athlete on every play. His Hudl highlights boast a 4.49 40-yard dash. He is definitely a dual-threat there. He had 1,458 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns while throwing for 1,434 yards and 14 scores. Since Purdue already has two quarterbacks in this class it likely means Perry would be a running back or receiver at the next level.
I really like his elusiveness and breakaway speed shown in his junior highlights. He has a way of making guys miss and accelerating quickly away from trouble. He would make an excellent read-option quarterback if we were to use him that way.
