56 Days to Purdue Football: Wyatt Cook

Cook has moved from linebacker to Defensive End coming out of his redshirt year.

Today we have a freshman that is coming out of his redshirt year and he has made a position change. Purdue's lack of a pass rush has seen him move to Defensive End, where SOMEBODY has to step up.

Wyatt Cook -€” Fr. (RS)

Westminster, Md (McDonogh School)

6'2", 240 pounds

Defensive End

2016 Projection: Reserve at Defensive End

Cook has already been on a roller coaster in his brief career. First, he convinced his brother, a safety at East Carolina, to transfer and walk-on. Second, he looked like a promising linebacker commitment when he signed on before last year. With some actual depth in front of him he ended up redshirting, and did not spend his redshirt year well.

Cook already has a strike against him as he was arrested in October on drug and alcohol charges. Both he and Chazmyn Turner were busted with booze and weed. That's not conducive to finding your way to the field in the long run.

Will Cook have an impact this year? Purdue needs someone to be a force at defensive end, so we will see.
