Jake Replogle Lands on Preseason Watch Lists

The senior defensive tackle is likely Purdue's best defender in 2016.

It's Watch List time around college football when the national awards name the players they will keep an eye on during the coming season. So far there is only one player that has been named to an official Watch List from Purdue, and that is Jake Replogle.

Replogle has, in fact, been named to two Watch Lists. The first is the Outland Trophy, which goes to the top interior lineman on either offense or defense. That generally limits it to centers, offensive guards, and defensive tackles. Replogle had 60 tackles last season, 14 for loss, and two sacks. In his career he had 113 tackles, 25.5 for loss, and five sacks along with a blocked kick.

Replogle was also named to the chuck Bednarik Award Watch list earlier this week. That award goes to the best defensive player overall in the country.

It seems likely that Replogle is a longshot to win either ward, especially when Ryan Kerrigan won Defensive Player of the Year in the B1G a few seasons ago and even he did not win a national award, but it is good to see a Boiler represented here.
