Today we have a hard working walk-on that appeared to be ready to contribute in 2016, only to fall victim to the Purdue ACL curse in the spring.
Eric Swingler - So.
Munster, IN (Munster HS)
6'5", 305 pounds
Offensive Line
2016 Projection: Out due to injury
Hailing from the land of three Floyds Brewing, Eric Swingler joined the team before the 2014 season as a walk-on. He is blessed with great size for a walk-on, however, at 6'5" and around 300 pounds. He saw a small amount of action last season, mostly against Indiana State, but had made great strides in the offseason. He was actually practicing with the first team at right tackle when he tore his ACL during spring ball.
That is a big loss, as Purdue could definitely use the help at right tackle at least in terms of depth. There is the possibility that Swingler could return in October, but this is a torn ACL. We are unfortunately familiar with these injuries and even if he does play, it is likely he will be limited for a bit.
