There are several top targets in the class of 2017 right here in the state of Indiana. Kris Wilkes, Jaren Jackson, Malik Williams, and Paul Scruggs are all in the ESPN top 50 for 2017 and all are in-state prospects. Scruggs has already eliminated Purdue (which is unfortunately because we could really use a Red Button guard and he is one), but Purdue is still in the running for the other three. Today Purdue made the top 8 for Williams though, and the 6'11" big is the No. 44 player nationally according to ESPN:

Purdue is also in the running for 6'7" forward Kyle Young out of Massillon, Ohio. The 4-star recruit is the No. 85 player according to ESPN and Purdue made his top 5 today:

It is good see see Purdue having some recruiting success here with bigs, but what we really need is an athletic game-changing guard. We need an E'Twaun Moore type that can create his own shot. Nojel Eastern seems to be the top prospect in tat regard.
