To me, the No. 40 jersey at Purdue will always be Mike Alstott. Some good linebackers have worn that jersey in the past, however, and today we have a young linebacker that will have to patiently wait his turn to play.
Tim Faison - Fr. (RS)
Tallahassee, FL (Amos P. Godby HS)
6'2", 211 pounds
Linebacker
2016 Projection: Reserve at Linebacker
Faison joins Austin Logan, Garrett Hudson, and Benaiah Franklin as players from Tallahassee on the roster. In fact, he was a high school teammate of incoming freshman receiver Franklin. Last season Faison redshirted because we had a lot of depth at linebacker, just as we do this season. In his senior season he had 50 tackles and six sacks to help Godby go 12-3. They reached the Florida Class 5A state championship game before losing to national power American Heritage 38-0.
Because of the depth ahead of him Faison may not play much this season, but there is always Special teams as an option.
