Purdue football recruiting has been on a roll of late. No, we’re not lining up 2 Live Crew and bringing in the Miami 5-stars like Uncle Luke in the 80’s, but after having only Griffin Alstott as the lone member for three months Darrell Hazell & Co. have landed five commitments in the last 14 days.
A football team is only as its offensive line, and that was the need addressed today. Purdue managed to grab a nice offensive tackle prospect out of Florida:
Jylton Tusha - OT
6’5” 305 pounds
Tusha is only a 2-star or unrated by most services, but has a better list of offers than many other 2-stars. Cincinnati, Colorado State, and Miami (FL) have already offered, while Florida, Florida State, Kentucky, West Virginia, and North Carolina have also expressed interest.
And what is not to like? He’s already a big body even before his senior year of high school. At tackle I would like him a little taller, but he could potentially move to guard. Here is what Scout had to say about him:
The 6-foot-5, 305-pound junior out of Jacksonville (Fla.) University Christian is a road-grader that does a nice job of locking onto and driving his opponent with tenacity. Tusha is a decent looking athlete that gets out to the second level with ease, and is always on the lookout for contact when navigating in space.
It sounds like he is a solid prospect. Welcome to West Lafayette, young man.
