The NCAA East Prelims were ridiculously successful for Purdue in Jacksonville this week. The Boilers followed up a solid Big Ten Championships performance by sending several individuals to the NCAA Championships to be held June 8-11 in Eugene, Oregon. Here is the full list of qualifiers:
Savannah Carlson - In the women's 100 meters she finished 12th and qualified to advance in 11.47 seconds.
Carmiesha Cox - Cox was 8th in the 200 meters in a time of 22.75 to move on to the NCAAs.
Symone Black - Black was 12th in the 400 meter hurdles to grab the last ticket to Eugene with a time of 56.88 seconds.
Women's 4x400 meter relay - The Purdue team of Black, Cox, Aarin Jones, and Brionna Thomas finished 10th in a time of 3:32.97 to qualify.
Janae Moffit - Moffit was 10th in the high jump with a mark of 1.80 meters to qualify.
Jessica Harter - Harter grabbed the last spot in the pole vault with a mark of 4.20 meters.
Micaela Hazlewood - Hazlewood was third in the discus with a throw of 55.77 meters to move on.
Chelsie Meeks - Meeks also moved on in the discus, finishing 10th with a throw of 52.75 meters.
Nicholas Parks - Parks was the first male to clinch a ticket to Eugene. He finished 7th in the 400 meters with a time of 45.71 to advance.
Men's 4x100 meter relay - The relay team of Gerald McGee, Kyle Webb, Malcolm Dotson, and Nicholas Parks finished 9th to move on in a time of 39.89 seconds.
Men's 4x400 meter relay - Parks, Shawndail McLaren, Obokhare Ikpefan, and Kendal Frederick also advanced in this relay with a time of 3:06.06, good for 10th place.
Chukwuebuka Enekwechi - Big Chuk is headed back to Eugene as the East Regional champion in the shot put with a throw of 20.20 meters. If he can throw 20.50 it would be good enough to make the Olympics in Rio. He will also compete in the hammer throw after finishing third with a throw of 68.54.
