The campaign to put on the mask will come up short. Desmond Bane, who was named the fan's choice male athlete of the year by the Indianapolis Star at the first high school Indiana Sports Awards banquet at Lucas Oil Stadium this week, is no longer in the running at Purdue:

We actually were DM'd by Bane this week in advance of this tweet and found out he was out of the running, but sat on it because hey, it wasn't our business to break it at the time. I still think he is a very impressive player that has gained a lot of late interest from programs and will make a difference wherever he ends up. Who wouldn't want a hard working player that is a natural scorer and is going to bust his ass for four years to prove himself.
