A.J. Hammons Named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year

The Associated press released its 2015-16 Men's basketball all-Big Ten teams this afternoon and A.J. Hammons will be taking home some hardware. A year after teammate Rapheal Davis was honored as the conference's Defensive Player of the Year the award will stay in West Lafayette:

Big Ten Conference media and coaches awards will be announced tonight. Hammons, a 7-foot senior center, is expected to contend for the same awards from both of those voting bodies as well.

Hammons averages 14.8 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.6 blocks for the Boilermakers, who are 24-7 and have the No. 4 seed in the Big Ten tournament.

In addition, Hammons was named tot he First  Team all-Big Ten, along with Denzel Valentine, Jarrod Uthoff, Yogi Ferrell, and Nigel Hayes.

Tomorrow I will be announcing the SB nation all-Big Ten teams as voted on by the respective SB Nation Big Ten sites.

It should also be noted that Davis was named as runner-up to Defensive POTY in the B1G
