The 2017 recruiting class is a big one in Indiana and Matt Painter is making inroads on several of the top targets. Today the Indiana Basketball coaches Association named the 18 players that will make up the junior All-Stars and will be favorites for the 2017 Indiana All-Star team. They will play the senior all-stars on June 7 and June 9, at sites to be named later. Normally, one game is held in the northern part of the state and one game is played in the south.

First, here is the "Core" group that will play in both games:

Name, Ht., Pos., PPG, High School

Jaren Jackson Jr., 6-9, F, Park Tudor

Jack Nunge, 6-9, F, Castle

Paul Scruggs, 6-3, G, Southport

Sasha Stefanovic, 6-4, G/F, Crown Point

Kris Wilkes, 6-7, F, North Central

Malik Williams, 6-11, F, Fort Wayne Snider

Painter has heavily recruited Wilkes and has also gone after Jackson, Scruggs, and Williams. Williams would be especially interesting, as he could potentially step into Isaac Haas' shoes after Haas' senior season. Scruggs is the slashing guard we could use, while Jackson and Williams come highly rated. Currently, Wilkes is the highest rated player at 27th according to ESPN 12th according to Rivals. Scruggs is 32nd according to Rivals and 36th according to ESPN. Williams is 37th according to ESPN and 36th according to Rivals. Jaren Jackson is 63rd on Rivals.

Here is the "North" group that will only play in the north exhibition:

Name, Ht., Pos., PPG, High School

Jalen Adaway, 6-4, G/F, Logansport

Jaylen Butz, 6-9, F, Fort Wayne North

Jermaine Couisnard, 6-2, G, East Chicago Central

Parker Hazen, 6-6, F, Columbia City

Kyle Mangas, 6-2, G, Warsaw

Tyler Smith, 6-1, G, Northeastern

Purdue has expressed at least some interest in Adaway from nearby Logansport. They have also shown interest in Butz (ggiglesnort).

Here is the "South" group that will only play in the south exhibition:

Name, Ht., Pos., PPG, High School

Michael Ertel, 6-0, G, Mt. Vernon (Fortville)

Zach Gunn, 6-7, F, Hamilton Southeastern

Isaac Hibbard, 6-0, G, New Albany

Jaylen Minnett, 6-1, G, Terre Haute South

Cooper Neese, 6-3, G, Cloverdale

Justin Roberts, 6-0, G, Pike

Purdue has expressed an interest in Gunn before, as well as Roberts at Pike, which has been kind to Purdue recruiting in the past.
