Shooting guard Cullen Neal, son of coach Curly Neal, will transfer from the University of New Mexico. Some unusual circumstances:

* He was a major scoring star in high school, and continued when available to play up until this year, when his scoring had its problems.

* He will graduate this spring and so is immediately available to play. A regular and a medical redshirt leaves him with two years of eligibility.

* He has endured major vitriol from the UNM fans. He's had to change cell numbers twice, cancel Facebook and Twiitter accounts. Those fans are mean and, IMHO, not very knowledgeable.

Given Purdue's current lineup I wonder whether a SG is even of interest.
