Purdue Cleans House at Big Ten Indoor Track & Field

The women just missed a Big Ten title, while the men battled injuries.

Awards from this past weekend's Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships are being announced this afternoon, and Purdue is taking home four individual awards after a big weekend.

First, the women's team came up just short of winning the conference. They earned 102 points to finish second behind Michigan's 109. On the men's side of things Purdue entered as the highest ranked team nationally, but a series of injuries led to a disappointing 12th place finish. Overall the teams broke five school records and won multiple individual championships.

Devynne Charlton is really, really fast. She is hte Big Ten Champion in the 60-meter hurdles and through participation in the 60-meter dash (Second Place), and the 200-meter dash (Fourth place) she was named the women's track athlete of the meet.

Chukwuebuka Enekwechi is a very large man who throws heavy things as far as his name is long. He finished third nationally last year at indoor NCAA championships in the Hammer Throw and int he Big Ten meet he won the weight throw. He was also second in the Shot Put, giving him Male Field Athlete of the meet honors. he is currently one of the top 100 throwers in the world and might compete this summer in Rio at a little thing called the Olympics.

Janae' Moffitt was an easy choice. She was named the Big ten Freshman of the year by winning the high jump at 1.81 meters. She was the only freshman to win an individual event in the conference.
