Purdue basketball will play on New Year’s Day. We have known the day for a while, but we did not know the time until earlier today. The conference finally announced that the “TBA” tipoff time would be 4:30pm:
The @bigten has announced that the Jan. 1 game with Minnesota will tip at 4:30 PM ET on @BigTenNetwork. #Retweet for awareness. #Purdue

The game will be carried on Big Ten Network and it is the second game of the Big Ten season after Wednesday’s conference opener also at home against Iowa. Minnesota was pretty awful last year, to the point that they were the only team to lose to Rutgers in conference play. So far this season they are off to a surprising 12-1 start. Their only loss was at Florida State in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge. They open conference play this week at Northwestern.
Last season Purdue and Minnesota played only once and Purdue won 68-64 in Minneapolis. It was a game that was not sealed until Vince Edwards hit two free throws with seven seconds left.
