Purdue’s top returning scorer is in line for a big season.

We get live Purdue basketball this week! Tuesday night is the only exhibition of the season as Purdue faces Southern Indiana in a scrimmage. The real games get underway in just 12 days, so it means it is Vincent Edwards day.

Vincent Edwards – Jr.

Middletown, OH (Middletown HS)

Forward

2016-17 Projection: Starter at Small Forward

Big things are expected of Edwards this season. He has already been nominated for the Julius Erving Award, given to the nation’s best small forward. He expected to challenge for a spot on the all-Big Ten team and be a top scorer for Purdue as the Boilers try to overcome their previous March failures.

Last season Edwards was second on the team in scoring at 11.3 points per game, first in assists at 2.9 per game, and third on the team in rebounding at 5.4 per game. With A.J. Hammons now gone the scoring load for Edwards should rise.

Some time this coming season Edwards will likely score his 1,000th point as a Boilermaker. He is a ridiculously versatile wing that can be a matchup nightmare for opposing small forwards. Paired with Isaac Haas and Caleb Swanigan, he gives Purdue possibly the best frontcourt in the country.
