Wheeler was here on an official visit this past weekend and the 3-star forward from Barrington, Rhode Island agreed to come on board this morning. Wheeler has been a rising prospect in the 2017 class. He is a 6’7” athletic wing that had major offers from Pittsburgh, Temple, St. Joseph’s and Providence. He is listed as 227th nationally according to 247 and both ESPN and Rivals had him as a solid 3-star.

Wheeler is brought in as a player that can score the basketball, something that Purdue needs. He has good size and looks to be a pretty athletic wing. I don’t think he is going to be an instant Red Button, but he is a guy that can runt he floor and score in transition. I am not sure about his shooting prowess, but we will see.
