On Sunday the Purdue football recruiting class got a little bigger and a little better with a pair of commitments. First, Purdue got some blinding speed.
Javonte Ferguson - WR/RB - Ferguson is only 5'8" from Oakleaf HS in Orange Park, Florida, but he has a ridiculous amount of speed. He was the National HS champion in the 100 meters, making him a Raheem Mostert-type. His 100-meter time? It is an impressive 10.54 seconds. How fast isthat? It is less than a second slower than the world record, so we're talking blinding speed. Here are his Hudl highlighted, but he is a three-star by both Rivals and ESPN. He could potentially be used in a moribund kick return game after Mostert and Akeem Hunt left.
Rob Simmons - DE - Showing that Purdue has zero confidence in its existing pass rushing options the Boilers got another end rusher as a JuCo transfer. Simmons is a lanky 6'6" 216 pounds and had no other Division I offers according to Rivals. He played this past season at Valley Forge Military Academy in Pennsylvania and has two years of eligibility remaining. His team went 8-1 and he had double-digit sacks, but other than that there is very little information on him. The previous Syracuse staff had offered him, and according to GBI he had interest from Idaho, Division II West Liberty, and Indiana... of Pennsylvania in Division II.
These commitments give Purdue 20 commitments on the eve of signing day, with Jackson Anthrop being a greyshirt and three players already enrolled.
