Purdue at Michigan State: Depth Charts

New, comments

There are quite a few changes this week due to injuries and ineffective play.

Marc Lebryk-USA TODAY Sports

Purdue's first game in Big Ten play is only against a team that has lost just three times in the last three seasons, and all three were to teams that had either just played for a national championship or later played for one.

Analysis:

  • The first note should involve Domonique Young. I would have to say it is highly unlikely he will play this Saturday given his injury and the way Eilar Hardy knocked him out (and was taunting as he was ejected too). Phillips played well against Bowling Green and got his first career TD. Dan Monteroso and Anthony Mahoungou will likely get more looks.
  • Patterson and Barron are now listed as the only two reserves on the offensive line. Bearooz Yacoobi and Joey Warburg have fallen off.
  • Eddy Wilson has played a lot, but the true freshman is now officially on the depth chart instead of Michael Rouse III.
  • Evan Pulliam has now shifted over to back up Ezechukwu after Garcia was moved to Sam as the starter.
  • Garrett Hudson, Greg Hudson's son, is now backing up Bentley in the middle.
  • Dezwan Polk-Campbell makes his first appearance as Markus Bailey was lost for the season and Jimmy Herman is likely out.
  • Myles Norwood has shifted from wide receiver to corner, pretty much out of necessity. David Rose does come off of his suspension this week, however.
  • Paul Griggs is still kicking, with only Brian Bravo and Thomas Meadows as legit replacements. after missing two easy FG attempts against Bowling Green you have to think Griggs, who is 3 of 8 after an outstanding year last year, is on thin ice. Three of his misses have been of the deflating, back breaking category.
