13 Days to Purdue Football: Gelen Robinson and Domonique Young

Both No. 13s on the roster should play quite a bit this year.

Pat Lovell-USA TODAY Sports

You had better get used to seeing No. 13 on the field this year, as both players in the No. 13 jersey will likely play quite a bit.

Gelen Robinson - So.

Schererville, IN (Lake Central HS)

6'1", 239 pounds

Rush End

2015 Projection: Starter at Rush End (after suspension)

Almost every Purdue fans knows about Gelen Robinson. He is the most promising defensive recruit Purdue has gotten in some time. The son of Purdue's greatest basketball player ever, Robinson had instant name recognition once he got to campus. After being a two-time state champion in wrestling and a top thrower in track he came to Purdue, where he is still playing all three sports.

Last season he played as a true freshman and did well, racking up 20 tackles, four tackles for loss, and two sacks mostly as a reserve. Unfortunately, he had an eventful summer with a DUI that has lead to a suspension of at least two games to start the season. It could be as many as four games, but we will see. As talented of a player as he is, Robinson is already on very thin ice. If he gets his head on straight off the field he could be a difference maker.

Domonique Young - Jr.

Los Angeles, CA (Cerritos College)

6'3", 205 pounds

Wide Receiver

2015 Projection: Contributor at Wide Receiver

Purdue needed wide receivers coming into this season, so it went out and got a pair of JuCo transfers that are expected to play immediately. One of those players is Young. Last season he had an impressive 53 receptions for 939 yards and nine touchdowns for Cerritos College. So far he is battling several other players for playing time, but he gives Purdue a big, strong receiver on the edge to throw to.
