15 Days to Purdue Football: Andy Chelf and Trae Hart

A couple of Texans check in on today's countdown.

Sandra Dukes-USA TODAY Sports

The No. 15 jersey will always have a special place in the hearts of Purdue fans, so why not talk about two players wearing it this season?

Andy Chelf - Fr.

Southlake, Texas (Southlake Carroll HS)

6', 190 pounds

Safety

2015 Projection: Likely redshirt

When you play as the starting safety for Southlake Carroll HS in Texas you have some talent. That is why I have a lot of hope for Andy Chelf. He may redshirt this year, but after notching 138 tackles and being named as a second team all-State selection as part of one of the premier programs in all of Texas I think he has a ton of promise. He was one of Purdue's first commitments for 2015 and he comes at a place where Purdue needs playmakers. Right now he is not on the depth chart, but in time he could be a solid player in the middle of the defense.

Trae Hart - So.

Mequite, Texas (First Baptist Academy)

5'10", 157 pounds

Wide Receiver

2015 Projection: Contributor at wide receiver

Hart put up ridiculous numbers for his small, private high school in Texas. He had over 100 receptions and 2,000 receiving yards as a senior, and that helped him see the field last season as a true freshman. He finished the year with nine receptions for 80 yards and a couple of carries for eight yards. He is in the mix to get more time at wide receiver this season, and with his speed I could see him become a kick returner too.
