Purdue Football Names Captains for 2015

Three seniors and a sophomore are this year's team leaders.

Today was the football kickoff luncheon in West Lafayette, and as part of that the Boilermakers named their captains for the coming season. As voted on by the team, here they are:

Danny Anthrop - Wide Receiver - Senior - it is no surprise that Anthrop is on this list. As Purdue top returning receiver he was a major playmaker last season and has been active in the offense for the previous three seasons.

Robert Kugler - Center - Senior - Kugler is now a 4-year starter and he has long been the vocal leader of the offensive line. He has the respect of the entire roster and few players can match him in terms of experience.

Frankie Williams - Cornerback - Senior - Williams is the unquestioned leader of the defense and might be the most decorated member of the entire roster. He is a hungry corner that cut his teeth with leaders like Ricardo Allen around, so it is not a surprise he was chosen as a captain.

Ja'Whaun Bentley - Linebacker - Sophomore - This  one is a bit of a surprise, but not really. He was already performing in the role of QB of the defense at middle linebacker, so becoming a captain is only natural. I am very excited to see what he can do this year.
