45 Days to Purdue Football: Lane Beeler

A walk-on townie looks to be a contributor at fullback.

Today we feature another walk-on that is doing the hard work necessary to be a solid practice player behind the scenes.

2015 Projection: Deep reserve at running back

Lane Beeler missed a great season by a year. He is a townie that went to McCutcheon high, which was undefeated and ranked No. 1 in class 5A last season before getting upset in the sectional by Westfield. Beeler was already at Purdue, however, going through his redshirt year as a walk-on running back. In his time at McCutcheon regularly got beaten up in the tough Hoosier Crossroads Conference. His teams only won 10 games in his four years, but three of those wins came in the postseason thanks to Beeler.

Beeler projects mostly as a fullback with his size, and given Purdue's lack of a current fullback he could eventually work his way to the field there. As you can see from his highlights, he loves to hit people and clear the road, so let's let him do that. We can even watch him score a TD:
