Another game, another laugher for Team USA at the FIBA U19 World Championships. The United States was undefeated and Argentina was winless coming into today's round of 16 game in Greece and it stayed that way. Team USA led 26-12 after one quarter and kept on rolling for a 93-45 win.
Our own Caleb Swanigan ended up playing a little more than 18 minutes and finished with 7 points, 3 rebounds, and a blocked shot. Turnovers and fouls were also somewhat of an issue as he had three of each.
The U.S. now has a day off before facing Italy in the quarterfinals on Friday. Italy finished as runner-up in Group C by beating Tunisia and Australia before losing to Canada 78-54. A victory over the Italians would give team USA a July 4th game against Spain (runner-up in group B) or the host Greeks (who won group D)
The other two quarterfinals are Croatia (Runner up in the U.S. Group) against Canada and Group C champion turkey against Australia, who upset Serbia. The gold medal game would be Sunday.
