Purdue received its second verbal commitment for the 2016 today. Jake Long, 3* a 6'0 190ish pound cornerback from Columbus, Ohio decided to become part of the solution at Purdue. Long fits the recent mold of larger defensive backs target by the coaching staff. He is currently listed as a corner back, but has the ability to play safety if he outgrows the cornerback position. Long has a few nice offers, including West Virginia and Virginia to go along with the usual mid major suspects.

Long has an intriguing combination of size and speed, and subsequently, could compete for early playing time in the defensive backfield. Purdue's defensive staff is doing an excellent job of recruiting talent to replenish the secondary.
