Caleb Swanigan and Team USA Star 2-0 in Greece
Team USA has already played a pair of games this weekend in the FIBA U-19 Championships in Greece and they are atop their group with a pair of wins. On Saturday the team defeated Iran 83-53, while today the United State won over Croatia 103-81. They will have Monday off before facing Egypt in their final group game on Tuesday. A victory over Egypt likely gives them a knockout round game with Argentina. Who is currently in last place in Group B.
Purdue's own Caleb Swanigan has done well so far. I don't know if he had a dunk against Iran so we can call him Ayatollah Slamithoma, but he started and had three points and three assists with a block, a steal, and an assists. Unfortunately, he also had four turnovers.
Against Croatia today Swanigan had a better game. He had eight points, four rebounds, and a pair of blocked shots. That all came in 1 minutes off the bench.
In Tuesday's Egypt game you can watch live on YouTube. We'll have more updates later as it looks like the U.S. is going to have a deep run after winning gold two years ago.
