In looking through the archives today I found an interesting factoid about today's player: He committed to Purdue at the same time Randy Gregory committed to the Boilers out of high school. We all know what happened to Gregory, but today's player has had a less heralded career.
Michael Rouse III - Sr. (5)
Hometown: Flossmoor, IL (Homewood Flossmoor)
Defensive Tackle
6'4", 301 pounds
2015 Projection: Possible starter at Defensive Tackle
The senior, one of only 12 scholarship seniors on the roster, has been all over the place in his career. He has been at defensive tackle, to offensive line, and back to defensive tackle. He started a pair of games in 2013 and last season he played in five games. He finished with five tackles, including 1.5 for loss. They are modest numbers, of course, but at least he provides depth.
On the latest depth chart he is second at defensive tackle, so we will likely see a little of him. He only has 14 career tackles, but with his size he will provide much-needed depth at what should be a strong unit.
