Raheem Mostert is not running this year, but Purdue still had some success in the NCAA East Track & Field Prelims. All told, 15 female athletes made the trip to Jacksonville, while the men had nine entries. Through a day of competition there has been success, as well.
Vanessa McLeod - She finished 19th int he 800 meters to tentatively qualify for Eugene.
Symone Black - A 14th place finish in the 400 meter hurdles has the freshman headed to Eugene.
Matt McClintock - The junior used a great finishing kick to not just qualify for the NCAA finals in the 10,000 meters, he won the prelim event in a time 29:47.98.
Chukwuebuka Enekwechi - The man with the really long name was the No. 1 seed in the hammer throw, but finished ninth. He still qualified for Eugene yet again.
Both McClintock and Enekwechi have legitimate chances to bring home an NCAA title, too.
