We're into the sophomores today, and the first sophomore is a player that mysteriously left the roster for unknown reasons in the middle of the season.
Anfernee Brown - Sophomore
11 minutes in 3 games, 2 of 4 FG, 1 of 2 3FG, 5 rebounds, 1 steal, 5 points
Purdue only had seven points scored by its four walk-ons this year, and five of them came from Anfernee Brown, the 6'1" sophomore guard from East Chicago. He played for three minutes against Samford and missed his only shot. Against Grambling State he hit a three-pointer and had two rebounds, which was his best game in his very limited time as a Boiler. His last action came against Arkansas State, where he had two points and three rebounds in four minutes. Last season he was 1 of 4 from the floor for two points in five games. He also had two rebounds and two assists.
As late as January 30 he was still part of the team, as the following interview shows:
At the end of the season he had left the roster, as he was not part of the last walk-on action of the year against Indiana. I haven't found a reason yet, but he did not close the season on the roster.
Future Expectations:
Anfernee was partially on academic scholarship and his Purdue bio says he was majoring in pre-physical therapy. If he returns to the roster he could be an asset, as he made the most of his very limited minutes. If not, I wish him well.
